More Beds Without Enough Nurses Doesn't Make Sense - Australian Nursing Federation
The future care of vulnerable elderly residents in nursing homes rests on an increase in qualified staff - more people in beds without more nurses will equal chaos and misery. Nursing & Midwifery Council Chair Elected Vice-President Of European Organisation
Professor Tony Hazell, Chair of the NMC, has been elected Vice-President of the European Council of Nursing Regulators (FEPI). At a meeting held in Rome on November 12, FEPI's members elected a new six-strong Executive Board, responsible for setting FEPI's strategic direction. RCN Calls On Employers To Protect Their Staff From Violence, UK

NMC Confirms Date That New Pre-registration Nursing Education Programmes Will Be Introduced Across The UK
Today the NMC confirmed that from the beginning of the academic year 2013-2014 students may only start pre-registration nursing programmes that meet the regulator's new approved standards. RACGP welcomes news that the Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon MP, has support the introduction of collaborative arrangements between nurse practitioners, midwives and medical practitioners.
