World Food Programme Calls For Citizen Action To Feed The One Billion Hungry

Jacques Diouf, head of the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), "is not satisfied" that the World Summit on Food Security's final declaration excludes "exact targets to reduce hunger," the BBC reports. Diouf "said he was not in the room when negotiators finalised the statement. A new report from UNICEF suggests that malnutrition has stunted nearly 200 million children under 5 living in poor countries and that future generations are in jeopardy unless urgent efforts are made to tackle undernutrition.
