Hepatic abscess Common pathogens
[Ampicillin 1-2 grams IV every 4 to 6 hours + Gentamycin IV +  Flagyl 500mg IV every 6 to 8 hours.]    or  
Flagyl 500mg  IV every 6 to 8 hours   +  [Ceftriaxone or Cefotaxime]
Flagyl 500mg  IV every 6 to 8 hours  +  [Ciprofloxacin]
[Unasyn or Timentin  or  Piperacillin/tazobactam] +/-   Flagyl 500mg  IV every 6 to 8 hours  (Note Flagyl present for amoeba as well as anaerobes).
