Bites Possible therapeutic alternatives 
Cat bite Common pathogens Augmentin 875 mg orally twice daily or  500mg three times daily x 7 days or moxifloxacin (Avelox) 400mg PO once daily x 7 days  or Ceftin (cefuroxime oral) 500mg orally twice daily  or  Doxycycline 100mg orally twice daily 
Dog bite Common pathogens Augmentin 875 mg orally twice daily or  500mg three times daily  //  or if penicillin allergic: Adults:  moxifloxacin (Avelox) 400mg PO once daily x 7 days  or   [Clindamycin 300mg orally every 6 hours + Ciprofloxacin 500mg twice daily]     Children: [clindamycin + Bactrim]
Human bite  Common pathogens Mild: Augmentin 875 mg orally twice daily or  500mg three times daily.  Moderate/severe: Ampicillin-sulbactam 1.5 to 3 grams IV every 6 hours or Ticarcillin-clavulanic acid  3.1 grams IV every 6 hours or Piperacillin-tazobactam 3.375 grams IV every 6 hours.  Penicillin allergy:  [moxifloxacin or Bactrim] + clindamycin
